Intro

I delved into many of the needlepoint projects for several decades, needlpoint primarily, though liked crewel as well. Did several afghans as well, and quilts. The only `method' I didn't like was cross-stitch, grates on me like nails down a chalkboard.

My very first one.

Nancy, my first wife did the toes, then I said, "let me try that," and finished it.

There are over fifty colors in the body.

I found that crewel was fast, so it was fun to do. Cross-stitch by Nancy for my mother.
I went through a phase that there were no needlepoint's worth doing being produced.

So I started creating my own patterns.

This was actually a cover on an issue of National Wildlife magazine.

Course today I have a computer program that can convert pictures to patterns. But, back then I had to do it by hand, tracing the picture over carbon paper onto graph paper and then counting the squares and converting them to a blank needlepoint canvas.

These large ones are approximately 2 feet by 3.5-4 feet.

Started by Nancy before our divorce, it was my last present from her. This was a picture that I took and then freehanded in the bamboo. The eagle and tree stump were actually a wood carving, the photo was in the paper as it was stolen from the artist.

Freehanded in the flag and background.

A crewel pillow on one of my knitted afghans. The pillows took a couple of months the afghans took a couple of years.
These two I've added here, but are not in the pdf book. Click on them for the full view.
. . .I really am! Of course, I had to do one of my birth sign!
Prologue
I've got many other "projects" I was doing, both finished and unfinished.

But, have not touched them in almost ten years.

Different times, different hobbies.
